This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to and overview of contemporary admiralty and maritime law. Topics to be addressed include admiralty jurisdiction and basic legal procedure, the creation and enforcement of maritime liens, limitation of liability, maritime contracts, pilotage, towing, salvage, maritime personal injury and death claims, maritime tort claims, and the Act of God defense, as well as federal regulation of marine pollution, wreck removal, and mariners' duty to assist others.
